Cookie Policy
This policy explains how QSavings uses cookies and similar storage technologies when you visit our website and use our platform.
Last updated: 13 March 2026
2. Types of Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function correctly. They enable core features such as authentication, session management, and theme preferences. Without these cookies, the Platform cannot operate. These cookies do not require your consent under GDPR and Rwanda's data protection law.
2.2 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously. We use this data to improve the Platform's functionality, performance, and user experience. Analytics cookies are only set with your consent.
2.3 Marketing Cookies
These cookies are used to track visitors across websites to display relevant advertisements. They are set by our advertising partners and are only activated with your explicit consent.
4. Your Cookie Choices
When you first visit QSavings, a cookie consent banner is displayed allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time:
- Accept all cookies: Enables strictly necessary, analytics, and marketing cookies.
- Necessary only: Only strictly necessary cookies are used. Analytics and marketing cookies are disabled.
- Browser settings: You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the Platform from functioning correctly.
To reset your cookie preferences, clear your browser's cookies for the QSavings domain. The consent banner will appear again on your next visit.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages. We do not control these third-party cookies. The third-party providers listed below have their own privacy and cookie policies:
- Google Analytics: Used to measure website traffic and usage patterns. Data is anonymized and aggregated. (analytics.google.com)
- Firebase: Used for phone number authentication (OTP verification). Firebase may set cookies related to authentication sessions. (firebase.google.com)
6. Local Storage & Session Storage
In addition to traditional cookies, QSavings uses browser local storage and session storage for:
- Theme preference: Your selected colour theme (dark, light, or system) is stored in localStorage to prevent flash of incorrect theme on page load.
- Authentication state: Authentication tokens may be stored in localStorage for session persistence across browser tabs.
- Application state: Certain UI preferences and cached data may be stored locally to improve performance.
Local storage data is accessible only to the QSavings domain and is not transmitted to our servers unless explicitly needed for authentication.
7. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not wish to be tracked. QSavings honours DNT signals: if your browser sends a DNT header, we will not load analytics or marketing cookies regardless of your cookie consent preferences.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our technology, practices, or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated via the cookie consent banner and an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
